“Flaps Down” on Flap Jack

Today, Gabi and I are cruising all over Vail Mountain (claiming to have 5289 acres of ski area):
from Simba to Game Creek Bowl to Highline Express, covering the terrain from the eastern to the western ski area boundary!
My favorite run is racing down the wide open Flap Jack. The yellow banner half-way down the trail says: “Flaps Down on Flap Jack”.
I pretend that I don’t know what that means. My 198 cm long Voelkl Giant Slalom skis like to go fast and I time my run (and fun) to make sure that nobody is skiing in front of or near me! Gabi must enjoy this as well; she is always close on my tail!
We go to bed happy and tired, having skied 6 out of 7 days.

On Sunday it is our turn to drive to Eagle Airport and to fly home. We have a little stress in Denver:
United 244 to Chicago is delayed by 4 hours and it is a mad dash to the next Service Desk. Re-booking options are not that great: either Monday afternoon to Hartford or La Guardia; first confirmed seats to Albany are on Tuesday, 2 days from now!
The minor problem is: we both have to be at work Monday morning! I scan the departure board and see that United 956 is leaving for Chicago at High Noon. We politely ask the gate agent to put our names on the stand-by list. There are about 30 other passengers already waiting to get a seat on this flight! This does not look very promising.
It seems like a miracle: the United gate agent calls our names, and Gabi and I are the last passengers to board, leaving about 2 dozen other passengers behind. I can only guess that our frequent flier status gave us some priority. Not bad, considering the fact that we are flying on an award ticket.
In Chicago, we actually are catching up to our original flight to Albany and touch down at Albany Airport at 7 PM on Sunday. Now there is no excuse for us and we both have to go back to work tomorrow!
