Visiting Friends
By Lothar. Filed in Germany |On Saturday, July 11, we say good-bye to our friends Maria and Rolf. They are great hosts, and took care of us for the last 5 days. They cooked for us, they entertained us, they gave us food and shelter, planned the bike trips and so on. We were spoiled in every way. Thank you very much!
Gabi’s new GLK350 is cruising on the Autobahn A45, traveling in a north-eastern direction. We pass Wetzlar, Herborn and Siegen with the “Hochtaunus” on our left and the Rothaar- Gebirge on our right. It rains on and off, just as it has been all week. Lunch break is at the Sauerland Rest Area, and by early afternoon we arrive at Fuchs’ house in Soest. We spend a nice afternoon with Henning and Elisabeth , who we last met in Manhattan in October 2008.
Henning is a Gourmet Chef (in his spare time) and spoils us with a 5-course-dinner. The food is excellent, the presentation very appealing ,and we can forget about losing weight on this vacation. The whole feast is accompanied by Champagne, followed by Franconia Ewig Leben White Wine, followed by Spaetburgunder Red Wine. After more than 4 hours of this, we call it a day (a very nice day indeed), and retire around midnight.
Visiting friends in Germany is hard work!
